Can You Buy Crypto on Binance with Alipay?

Yes, you can. Alipay is one of the most commonly used payment methods in Binance's C2C marketplace. In a nutshell, you transfer RMB to a seller via Alipay, and the seller releases crypto to you on the Binance platform. The whole process is platform-escrowed — no need to deal directly with strangers in private.

First, make sure you have a Binance account. Register through the Binance website for a fee discount. Mobile users should download the Binance App — C2C buying is most convenient on the app.

How C2C Trading Works

Binance C2C (Customer-to-Customer) is a peer-to-peer marketplace. Verified merchants list offers to sell USDT and other crypto. You pick a merchant, pay them via Alipay, and once they confirm receipt, they release the crypto to you.

Binance acts as the escrow agent — before you pay, the seller's crypto is already held by Binance. You pay, the seller confirms, then the crypto is released. If there's a dispute, Binance steps in to arbitrate.

Full Step-by-Step Guide

Prerequisites:

  • Binance account with completed KYC verification
  • Alipay account with real-name verification (ideally matching your Binance KYC identity)
  • Sufficient balance in Alipay or a linked bank card

Step 1: Go to the C2C page

Open the Binance App and find "Buy Crypto" or "C2C" on the homepage. You can also go to "Trade" in the bottom navigation and switch to the "C2C" tab.

Step 2: Set your purchase parameters

  • Select "Buy"
  • Choose USDT as the coin (beginners should start with USDT as a universal trading medium)
  • Set fiat currency to CNY (Chinese Yuan)
  • Set payment method to "Alipay"

Step 3: Choose a merchant

The system lists multiple merchants with their offers. Each listing shows:

  • Price: How much CNY per USDT (varies slightly between merchants)
  • Volume and completion rate: Reflects the merchant's activity and reliability
  • Limits: Minimum and maximum purchase amounts

Tips for choosing a merchant:

  • Prefer those with a "Merchant" badge or verification mark
  • Look for a completion rate above 95%
  • When prices are similar, go with higher trade volume
  • Check that the minimum limit fits your budget

Step 4: Enter the purchase amount

After selecting a merchant, enter how much CNY you want to spend (e.g., 1,000 yuan) and the system calculates how much USDT you'll receive. Alternatively, enter the amount of USDT you want to buy.

Step 5: Place the order

Confirm the amount and tap "Buy." A countdown starts (usually 15 minutes) — you must complete payment before it expires.

At this point, the seller's USDT is already locked in Binance escrow and can't be moved until the transaction is resolved.

Step 6: Pay via Alipay

The system shows the seller's Alipay payment details (account ID or name). Open your Alipay app:

  1. Go to the "Transfer" function
  2. Enter the seller's Alipay account
  3. Enter the exact payment amount (it must match the order amount to the cent — not a yuan more, not a yuan less)
  4. Important: Do NOT write anything related to cryptocurrency, virtual currency, USDT, Bitcoin, etc. in the transfer note. Leave it blank, or write something generic like "transfer"
  5. Complete the payment

Step 7: Mark payment as complete

Return to the Binance App and tap "I've Paid." Don't forget this step — if you've paid but haven't marked it, the seller doesn't know you've sent the money.

Step 8: Wait for the seller to release crypto

Once the seller confirms receipt of your Alipay transfer, they release the crypto on Binance. The USDT lands in your funding account. This usually takes just a few minutes.

If the seller takes too long (more than 15 minutes), you can tap "Appeal" and Binance support will intervene.

After Receiving USDT

USDT arrives in your "Funding Account." To use it for spot trading (e.g., buying BTC), you need to transfer it from your funding account to your spot account first. It's simple — just tap "Transfer" on the assets page.

Important Precautions for Alipay Purchases

Precaution 1: Transfer amount must be exact

If the order says 998.50 yuan, transfer exactly 998.50 — not 999, not 998. A mismatched amount can prevent the seller from confirming or cause a dispute.

Precaution 2: Never use sensitive keywords in the transfer note

This is critical. Alipay has its own risk-control system, and if your transfer note contains words like "Bitcoin," "USDT," or "virtual currency," your Alipay account may be flagged or even frozen.

The safest approach is to leave the note completely blank, or write something mundane like "living expenses" or "repayment."

Precaution 3: Use your own Alipay account

You must pay from an Alipay account registered under your own name. Paying from someone else's Alipay will cause the seller to reject the confirmation (since the payer doesn't match the buyer), and may also trigger platform risk controls.

Precaution 4: Never transact off-platform

All transactions should go through Binance's C2C system. Don't be lured by a "merchant" offering a better price outside the platform. Transactions without platform escrow have zero protection.

Precaution 5: Mind the time window

C2C orders have a payment deadline — typically about 15 minutes after placing the order. Unpaid orders auto-cancel. Also, sellers may be slower to confirm during late-night hours.

What If Alipay Gets Risk-Controlled?

If your Alipay account gets restricted due to C2C activity (e.g., unable to transfer to others):

  1. Contact Alipay customer service to find out the specific restriction reason
  2. Provide any documentation Alipay requests
  3. Wait for the restriction to be lifted (typically days to weeks)
  4. In the meantime, switch to WeChat Pay or bank transfer as your C2C payment method

To reduce the chance of triggering risk controls:

  • Don't make frequent large C2C transactions
  • Space out your transactions
  • Keep your Alipay account active with normal everyday use (shopping, regular transfers, etc.)
  • Absolutely never put sensitive keywords in transfer notes

A Note on Pricing

USDT on the C2C market is usually priced slightly above the "official" exchange rate. For example, if 1 USDT theoretically equals 7.20 CNY, a C2C merchant might sell at 7.25 CNY. The difference is the merchant's margin.

Prices vary slightly between merchants, so it's worth comparing a few. But don't choose a merchant with low volume or no verification just to save a few cents — safety and efficiency matter more than saving a couple of yuan.

The entire Alipay buying process is actually quite straightforward — once you've done it once, you've got it down. Just remember three things: get the amount exactly right, keep the transfer note clean, and do everything through the platform.
